Partial dentures replace some missing teeth and clip to the ones you still have. Full dentures replace an entire arch. Dr. Seyal has spent much of his career on dentures and implants, and the difference between a denture that sits in a drawer and one you forget you are wearing is in the fit. We take the time to get it right and adjust it until it is comfortable.
Partial dentures
For when you still have some good teeth. The replacement teeth sit on a gum-colored base with clasps or a metal frame that grips your remaining teeth. It comes out at night. A well-made partial lets you chew on both sides again and stops the remaining teeth from drifting.
Full dentures
For a whole upper or lower arch. An upper denture seals against the roof of the mouth and usually stays put well. A lower denture has less to hold onto, which is why so many people struggle with them, and why two implants under a lower denture change everything: it snaps on and stays. Dr. Seyal will show you both options.
Getting the fit right
Several short visits: impressions, a bite record, a try-in where you see the teeth in wax and can ask for changes, then the finished denture. Then adjustments. Every new denture needs a few, and we do not consider it done until you can eat with it. If your teeth need to come out first, an immediate denture is placed the same day so you are never without teeth.

Partial & Full Dentures: FAQ
My old denture does not fit anymore. Do I need a new one?
Maybe not. Gums shrink over the years and a reline (refitting the inside of your denture) often solves it. Bring it in and Dr. Seyal will tell you which makes sense.
How long does it take to get used to dentures?
A few weeks. Speech comes first, then eating. Start with soft food cut small and chew on both sides. Sore spots are normal early on; come in and we adjust them.
What about implants with dentures?
Two to four implants can hold a denture in place so it snaps on and does not move. It is the biggest improvement in dentures in decades, especially for the lower jaw. Dr. Seyal places implants here and can tell you if you are a candidate.
